Why it is So Hard to Get Admitted into a Nigerian UNIVERSITY? (PART 1)

When you read this Title the next thing that comes to your mind is JAMB. Right? Yes of course!

There are so many reasons why students do not gain admission easily into the Nigerian Universities. Some of which are on the parts of:
·       Students
·       The government
·       Teachers
·       Parents
·       The educational institution
·       The Matriculation Board (JAMB)
·       And most importantly the existent Competition

Let’s take a look at the role of the following people and body on how they affect a student’s admission process into the University.

STUDENTS
Take the Decision to get admitted into the University, Be determined and be disciplined about it.

You are responsible for what happens to you. You cannot blame anyone for your failure neither can you blame anyone for your success.

What’s my point Here? As a student, you must be serious (take note of the word “must”). You should face your studies fair and square; nothing in this entire world should distract you from your studies.

A student should know where He/she is heading to in Life. A student should be focused, determined, enthusiastic and charismatic. A student with the following characteristics has a targeted future and is headed toward the right path.

Now let’s take the scenario of a non-chalant student, who gets easily distracted with his environment, the new trends and hardly faces his studies.
Such a student has no focus, no hunger for success in his academics and will obviously not do well in his academics.

The 21st Century Nigerian Student/Teenager is exposed to a lot of things;
Technology, Internet, Relationship and Sex.

This non-disciplined student will spend more time on the internet than on his studies.

Come to think of it, about 95% of Nigerian Students/Teenagers are exposed. Be it Teens from the Island or the Mainland, they are all exposed.

Technology
Technology is a craft of Handwork by Man to improve human life and promote well being.

About 75% of Students/Teenagers in Nigeria misuse Technology and the internet. They surely don’t promote learning with Technology and Internet because they spend more time networking on Social Media and doing lots of irrelevant things that do not benefit them.

They use their smart devices to do things they can’t even disclose to their parents like watching porn videos.

The remaining 25% use Technology to promote their learning.

A student who uses Technology to maximum and optimum use will promote learning on his path by Researching different Topics (already taught or not), Watching educational Videos, Listening to Educational Audio Lectures.
Students are strongly advised to use technology to their advantage in terms of Learning.

The Internet
Everyone is familiar with the internet. It is because you’re on the internet makes you able to read this, 100% true. As a student, you cannot be taught how to use the internet, “except you are a dummy”.

Use the internet wisely, Make research, and gather information that is beneficial to your admission course. Most importantly feed your brain with the right knowledge.

Download the right past questions, for the University you’re gunning for, make sacrifices, when you are asked to buy what is beneficial to you; do so. It’s important to you.

Relationship and Sex
Now let’s dwell on student’s relationship with the Opposite sex.
Every teenager wants to be involved in one relationship or two. Being in a relationship as a teenager and as a student is not in any way advisable but if you dim it fit and you have the maturity to handle a relationship, you can go ahead.

If you are one that is emotionally unstable, you should pull out of that relationship now, if you want a fulfilling future.
